Wish me luck….

That’s right, I need it BIG TIME! Have just sent off a requested partial and synopsis to the ed I’ve been working with at Mills & Boon, so I’m NTAI again! It’s the story I entered in the New Voices contest and I’m so hoping I get the chance to submit the rest of it!

And on another aside, I have a little confession to make. I kept something TOP secret from everyone (even my hubby and closest writing friends) I knew last month – I subbed a mss to Carina Press. I don’t really know why I didn’t tell anyone but I just wanted something for ME!
I loved this mss and although it was R’d by M&B, it wasn’t for major things like conflict, character or plot. I just didn’t seem to be able to get the sensuality spot-on for Modern Heat.
Well, yesterday I received a revise and resubmit letter from a lovely editor at Carina, so I’m very excited to be getting on with that now.
So… what exciting news have you had lately!?

  1. Congrats on the news from Carina Press, good luck with those revisions.
So what happens now if your name appears on the New Voices “looking for more” list? I looked for it today but it wasn't up yet. Loved your chapter and hope you get some good news back from your editor (that sounds nice, doesn't it? “Your editor”)xx

  2. Fantastic news Rach, congratulations to you for making things happen! You're going after the dream and that's more than some people will ever be brave enough to do.

I'm sending you some Irish luck, buckets of it in fact.

  3. Well done Rach on your HMB sub – got my fingers and toes crossed for you.

And now while you're NTAI, you can concentrate on your Carina sub. Fantastic news!

I know you can do it!!!

  4. Well done, Rach, that's fab! And super great you can get on with revise and resubmit while you wait for M&B answer πŸ™‚

No writing news for me lately, but son's school rugby team through to the county champs so that was mummy all excited today!

  5. Aw all you lovely, lovely people – thanks for your excitement and good luck wishes!

Susan – I'm not on the list but who cares, cos I'vΓ© already subbed it – lol! 'The list is a bit disappointing cos I don't see any of the names of chaps I loved. Oh well 😦

Aideen – thanks for the luck of the Irish πŸ™‚

Joanne – thanks for the faith!

Other Joanne πŸ™‚ – that's TOTALLY cool about your son's rugby team. Good news indeedy!

Lacey – thanks and I hope you get more but don't hold your breath. I'm not really sure I know what M&B want.

Thanks Bec – keep em crossed πŸ™‚

Mon and Anita – thanks so much for the good luck wishes. Watch this space!!

  6. You've been busy!

Congratulations on the great response from Carina. And good luck with the M&B entry. I'm hoping to get a proposal to them after I finish getting this GH entry completed.

  7. Good luck with your M&B sub, Rach and congrats on the revision letter from Carina.

    You're on a roll.

I redid my first chapter and subbed my partial to Richmond without waiting for the list as that MS is pretty much done.

I figured I have something out there even if they hate the partial too in the end.

  8. Thanks Anne – and good luck with your entry. You've been a hive of writing activity lately πŸ™‚

Sri – Good on you!!! Let's show M&B what THEY want instead of let them TELL us – heheh!

Jackie – thanks for being such an ever-supportive writing buddy!!! We'll get there one day, we HAVE to!

  9. Congrats on the revise and resubmit to Carina! I met Angela James when I was at RWA national. She was lovely. The president of my local RWA chapter signed on with them and has a book coming out. She says they are wonderful to work with. I've heard only good things. My fingers are crossed for you!

  10. Oh well done, Rach! That's great news, both on the sub front and the revisions request. Your NV entry was great, and I'm so glad you've fired off the partial to Richmond. Very exciting about Carina, how long did it take for them to come back to you btw? Hopefully quicker than M&B! I've sent a partial off to them too, and am also NTAI… Have also sent a full to WR (also NTAI) and am launching into a huge challenging project as distraction. Here's hoping you hear great news from both asap!!

  11. Woohoo, Rach. I have everything crossed for you!

And yay again on the Carina revise and resubmit. They don't do that unless they're VERY interested. But of course they'd be interested in you. You're a FABULOUS writer!

  12. Wendy – thanks for popping by. Congrats again. So far all my dealings with Carina have been HUGELY professional. Am excited to be working with them πŸ™‚

Sally – I sent a full to Carina on Sept 1st and heard back on Oct 5th (I think), so it was quite quick for a full. HUGEST best luck with your subs. Can't wait to hear how they go!

    Thanks Eleni!

    Cathryn – Thanks and I hope you're right πŸ™‚

  13. That is completely awesome news! I have done that with short stories before – sometimes I just need to keep it to myself, along with my rejection if it happens. The rest are always verbally told to my writer's group. You have great “irons in the fire” so I am wishing you lots of luck! Found you from Abbi's blog and we have a similar title in our blogs so I thought it'd be great to check out! Good luck!
